A rectal fissure can NOT cause cancer! This is a misconception held by a large percentage of people and it causes undue stress on the part of the patient suffering with a fissure at the opening of the large intestine.

This is a common misconception amongst people and this is a misconception that was held by people who proactively made me fear cancer because of having an anal fissure.
